Nissan Leaf creating more buzz than the Volt

According to Google Trends via AutoblogGreen, the Nissan LEAF is crushing the Chevy (er…Chevrolet – more on this in a minute) Volt in terms of search volume on Google, more than doubling it at times.  The LEAF is set to arrive at area Indianapolis Nissan dealers sometime in the fall of 2010, and the Volt will be coming out around that time, as well.  If the LEAF and Volt’s side-by-side arrival isn’t being billed as a showdown, perhaps it should be. … Continue Reading

A whistle that can save a life: the new Nissan Leaf’s new noisy tech

In the age of the hybrid car, which run nearly silent at low speeds, there has been much cause for concern, and growing advocacy around, what can be done to help blind pedestrians, who can’t listen for typical audible cues present in modern internal combustion engines. While the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration is working on guidelines that would require hybrids and electric vehicles to produce sounds that can be heard by pedestrians at low speeds, the new Nissan Leaf may be the answer we’ve been waiting for. Nissan Versa 1.6 Base among least expensive cars to own

If you were to take a moment and chat up your local Nissan dealer in Indianapolis, chances are he’d talk to you about the Nissan LEAF EV that is set to hit the roads this year, or maybe he’d mention the quirky Nissan Juke that is inspired by motorbikes and beach buggies and due out this fall.  Or he might bring up the supercar GT-R that tops out at over 200 mph, or even the good old trusty Altima.  Yeah, your Indianapolis Nissan dealer has a loaded fleet on which to hang his hat.  But unless you so request it, he probably won’t mention the Versa 1.6 Base. … Continue Reading

Nissan GT-R fastest vehicle on earth?

The fastest animal in the ocean is the Sailfish cruising at close to 70 miles per hours, in the air the king speed demon is the Peregrine Falcon flapping its wings at 90 miles per hour and the Cheetah who has been a longtime holder of the title “fastest land animal” can reach speeds of 70 miles per hour. This however has just changed as team Boost Logic with the help of their Nissan GT-R set the standing mile record at 203.6 miles per hour, leaving all animals in the dust, at this year’s Texas Mile. … Continue Reading

Nissan Leaf to join Hertz’s line up

Nissan is continuing to promote their new fully electric automobile, the Nissan Leaf, by creating a deal with Hertz rental car agency. The Leaf will be offered to Hertz rental car customers in select locations in the U.S. and Europe. This option will be available in early 2011. Indianapolis used Nissan dealer believes this will be another great opportunity for consumers to learn about the Nissan Leaf.

The agreement between Hertz and Nissan demonstrates how serious the auto industry is about creating and promoting environmentally friendly automobiles. Both Nissan and Hertz are dedicated to reaching a future where zero emission vehicles are prominent on roads all over the world. The Nissan Dealer in Indianapolis reports the Nissan Leaf is slated to be released to the public in fall 2010. The Leaf will be available for rent from Hertz shortly after, allowing drivers who are unsure to test the Leaf for an extended period through the rental process.

While many details of the Leaf are still kept under wraps, it is reported this automobile will be incredibly innovative. The Leaf is said to have an IT system that is connected to a large data center. From the Leaf, drivers will be able to request basically anything from roadside from support to music and directions.  The Leaf can also conveniently display where the nearest charging station for the fully electric vehicle is located. Indianapolis used Nissan dealers believe this will be an incredible perk for drivers who are nervous about driving without the cushion of a gas engine.

The Nissan Leaf is estimated to have a purchase price of between $25.000 and $33.000, however pricing will not officially be announced until spring of this year. The Nissan Dealer in Indianapolis confirms many drivers will likely be enticed by the idea of renting the Nissan Leaf. The fully electric car is something many people are interested in, however, many of these same people may be hesitant to jump into purchasing such a new technology. Hertz offering the Leaf for rental will provide a space for all car drivers to test this technology without such a large monetary commitment.
